Hannoverian 2007 Graded: WBS-UK Lic. Hann 17.2hh (175cm) Sire: Galvano (Hann) Dam: Wisua B (Hann) Dam Sire: Wanderbursch II (Hann) £700 AI Fresh & Chilled |
The importance of the “G” line blood is well understood in top performance breeding for dressage and jumping but, until now, it was limited to the Grannus line or appeared in the third or fourth generation.
In 2009, in Verden, the Hannoverian Studbook licensed the young stallion, Goetterfunke. A son of the great Galvano, he impressed with his scope, athleticism and movement for dressage and jumping.
From a dam line which has produced the great stallion Santini and the Bundeschampionat Finalist, Royal Spirit, this young horse shows much provenance.
This is a strong and well developed horse with immense scope in his jumping and power in his canter, walk and trot. His character is user friendly and he wants to work. He is totally genuine.
In 2013, ridden by Derek Moreton, Götterfunke commenced his BSJA career, qualifying for the Scope Championships and now competing at Foxhunter – he is underway for the top.
In 2014, he continued his career, now heading up to 130cm and winning at Foxhunter. We are also seeing top moving offspring that show his dressage movement

PERFORMANCE, PEDIGREE AND POWER: COMBINING OUTSTANDING STALLION LINES WITH EXCEPTIONAL MARE LINES
GRANDE
Who was Grande and why is he important?
Grande was born in 1958 and represents the old Hanoverian Goldschaum xx line, carried on through the foundation sire, Goldfisch II (1939 – 1958). Grande himself produced produce 33 approved sons, 34 states premium mares and top showjumping progeny such as the legendary Gladstone as well as Grande Giso, Gute Sitte and Graf Grannus (out of a Goldlöwe / Goya mare) carried on his jumping sire’s legacy.
Grande’s continuing influence
In fact, despite their now diminishing numbers, Grande’s grand children seem to have been the real stars. These include Grandeur (by Gralsritter) who won over a million Deutschmarks in a spectacular showjumping career, and subsequently proved to be a superior sire.
Gralsritter himself (who was out of a mare by Frustra II) also sired four approved sons, 15 state premium mares and 182 mares in the main studbook. At the time of his death, Gralsritter had an impressive jumping breeding index of 127 with his offspring earning over DM 2 million in Germany alone.
Grande’s son Graphit also sired winners of over almost two million DM and produced one of the most important jumping stallions of them all in the superb Grannus, sire of such well known performers as Top Gun La Silla and Almox Grand Plaisir.
How can you get access to these increasingly rarfe but very successful bloodlines?
Gotterfunke, who stands at stud is now probably the only direct grandson of Grande at stud in the UK, and possibly the world. The product of a unique experiment to regain the powerful influence of the G line into the Hannoverian breed his dam Wisua B by Wanderburcht II was inseminated with the frozen semen of this long-dead sire and he in turn was successful at his grading in Germany being champion as a 2 year old. However an accident during his performance test limited his competition career – although he was successful in competition with Derek Moreton for a number of seasons – but his bloodlines are proving to be an outstanding source of showjumping potential in their own right.

GRANDE’s G LINE DESDENDENTS
Why are Grande’s G line descendants so important? and why is he important?
Grande was born in 1958 and produced produce 33 approved sons, 34 states premium mares and top showjumping progeny such as the legendary Gladstone as well as Grande Giso, Gute Sitte and Graf Grannus (out of a Goldlöwe / Goya mare) carried on his jumping sire’s legacy. THE HANNOVERIAN F/W LINE
Why is the f/W Hannoverian line so important in showjumping breeding ? and why iWanderr in particular so important?
The W line in the Hannoverian breed springs from Ferrara and Ferdinand and Wanderer and his sons Wanderbursch I, Wanderbirsch II and Wanderkoenig are four of its best known progenitors.
Wanderer is one of the great Hanoverian sires and is renowned for producing horses with outstanding jumping talent, as well as elastic movements. The bay stallion descends from famous bloodlines (Wendekreis, Gotthard, Absatz) on his sires side and the bloodlines of his dam Genua are equally distinguished as she is by the Grande son Glander out of an Absatz mare. These bloodlines provide a very special guarantee for performance ability and Wanderer himself sired 26 approved sons (six of whom have stood at stud at Celle State) and 44 State Premium mares. All of this attests to his impressive ability to reproduce quality as does the fact that he was represented in the competition arena by over 350 offspring – who won a total of nearly DM 1 million between them and of whom the best known are probably Walesa and the international showjumping stallion Helena Weinburg’s Wait and See.
Wanderbursch II stood at the state stud at Celle for several years alongside his full brother Wanderbursch I where he was frequently referred to as "a champion of the highest order for use in all aspects." This he showed by not only by winning the jumping category at his performance test with 130.31 points but also by being a regular member of the famed Celle Dressage Quadrille. Wanderbursch II was noted for his impressive outline and three basic gaits of equally high quality. His offspring have good jumping talents in combination with powerful and elastic movements. Wanderbursch's daughter Wyella was Champion Mare at the Louis-Wiegels-Show in 1995.
